WIMBLEDON IRISH CENTRE MOSAIC INSTALLATION

Wimbledon Irish Centre has recently installed this new mosaic wall panel commissioned and donated by Tom MacMillan which depicts the four provinces of Ireland - Connacht, Leinster, Minster and Ulster. The making took place over a number of months with all the tesserae - the small mosaic pieces - being made here at the workshop first, then with the four sections being mosaiced separately by a dedicated team of students. The panel is approximately 1.25m wide and is displayed in the lobby-bar area there for all to see. The biggest THANK-YOU goes to David, Hazel, Mary, Medina, Kelly, Rebekah, Roxanne and Toby for their unstinting enthusiasm throughout!

There is a bit of history to this, Tom, a longstanding supporter of Workshop 305, has helped us develop connections with the Irish Centre over a number of years - this piece is the eighth panel that we have had the pleasure to make, with the others being commissioned by the centre itself.
